Description
This steelyard weight is in the form of a bust of the Goddess Minerva who is the Roman Goddess of wisdom, medicine, the arts, science, trade and also of war. She wears a cloak and a Corinthian helmet with high crest pushed up above forehead.
Steelyard is a balance or scale consisting of a metal arm suspended off center. The object to be weighed is hung from the shorter end, and a sliding weight is moved along the graduated longer end until the whole arm balances.
