Valerian.

Billon Tetradrachm (9.8 grams).

Ruling from 253-260 Valerians first act of emperor was making his son Gallienus co-ruler and split the problems of the Empire between themselves, Gallienus taking the West while Valerian took East. Perhaps best known for the Valerian Persecution in which he wrote anti-Christian edicts banning assemblies and sent clergy into exile. Many bishops and Pope Sixtus II lost their lives as a result.
