This is an extravagant necklace hand crafted by award winning jeweler Moussa Albaka and is made of sterling silver and beautiful spider web turquoise beads. The pendant is known as a “Tcherot” and is inlaid with ebony wood.
Tuareg talisman boxes or “Tcherot” were worn on necklaces by Tuareg women and on Tuareg men’s turbans. They contain verses of the Quran and were worn as protective amulets, for fertility and for strength. Tuareg girls are given Tcherots by their mother when they reach the age of seventeen.
