Nandi (bull) as known in Hindu mythology, is the gatekeeper of Shiva (an important Hindu deity – the destroyer god or transformer) and Shiva’s primary vehicle. Present at the entrances to Shivas temples, Nandi, also refers to a “person” blocking the way. This in itself is interpreted by believers that it is vital to seek the blessing of Nandi before worshiping Shiva.
