Kundu People.

This sword was used during ceremony as a symbol of rank. The hilt, pommel and entire sheath of this sword are constructed of dark wood studded with brass. The iron blade is decorated with a triangular area of linear incisions. The sheath bears an animal skin strap.

This blade type was also used by the Konda and the Ngata people, who occupy the same region as the Kundu. The Kundu belong to a larger social group known as the Mongo.
