Chinese Scholar’s Rocks are naturally formed or “sculptured” stones in surprising shapes and textures. They have been collected by scholars since ancient time and are now gaining growing popularity in the West to appreciate their artistic value. Many museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC have permanent exhibits of those magnificent stones. Major newspapers, NYT, WSJ, Washington Post and Boston Glob have written articles on the subject and called them “Rock Stars”, “New Hot Stones” and “3-D Paintings”.
