Additional Information
Spoons and ladles used in cooking, filling water vessels, and skimming the grease from boiling bones, were made mainly from the horn of the buffalo.
The spoon was made by boiling or steaming the horn. As it softened it was bent into the required shape and dried. These items were made only by the women, who took great care to see that they dried slowlly and maintained their desired shape and length.
