Carved Headrest

$275.00

The Kambatta people live on the upper banks of the Omo River in Eastern Africa. Hand carved, these headrests provide protection to the owner by elevating the head off the ground and avoiding bites from snakes or scorpions.

Named after the region they are from, these headrests also maintain the elaborate hairstyles of the Ethiopian. Hairstyles depict age, gender and status in the tribe and are embellished with ornaments of a magical and religious nature and therefore require protecting.
