Additional Information

This wonderfully unique piece depicts Vishnu resting against Shesha – The King of Nagas, renowned in Hindu and Buddhist tradition as one of the primal beings of creation – a deity that takes the form of a snake. The King of Snakes shielded Buddha from the elements as Buddha sat in a deep meditational state. Usually, a King Cobra or Indian Snake, it is believed when Shesha uncoils time moves forward and creation takes place. When he coils back, the universe ceases to exist.
